I know this is old news but well worth repeating:

(Hartford) - Eyewitness News has new information on the riot that broke out at the Dave Matthews concert in Hartford last night.

Police used tear gas and sting balls to break up a fight in the Jai Alai parking lot.

Eyewitnesses say people were throwing bottles and rocks at each other.

Twenty-five people were arrested on charges of inciting a riot, assault and breach of peace.

Police say four people are still in jail from fights at the concert.

The scene reminded everyone of another riot at the Meadows five years ago.

People fought, threw objects and burned cars at that Dave Matthews concert.

This whole Dave Mathews/Meathead connection really pisses me off. First of all I'd like to admit that I personally like DMB. I appreciate that he writes his own music from the heart and I enjoy the acoustic variety on all his cd's. There aren't too many bands around today that can rock out with violins, saxophones, bongo drums, etc. HOWEVER...within the past few years, his concerts are starting to become a total farce with the infiltration of meatheads & meatettes surrounding you at every turn. You know the typical sorority chix: orange glow from the endless hours spent at "tropical tans", short skirt, halter top, blond streaks, and of course a tatoo on the small of their back as a sign of rebellion toward their tuition paying parents.

It is a shame that Meatheads have infiltrated various bands, eating establishments, bars, etc. and ruined a good thing for others. The innocent are the ones who pay dearly for the actions of Meatheads.

Very nice ending to your response Chasity. As for Dave Matthews, it is a shame b/c the guy really does love music and has a very talented band. However, this was going on 5 years ago. And his following was the one reason why I never got into him.

I'll tell you the reason why he is so popular to the Meatheads.

He is simple to understand and is catchy. In other words, you have to put no thought into the songs. The emotion is spelled out for you in catchy phrases that sorority style girls love. The less thinking the better, right. Knowing that girls love this guy, guys buy into his sound to get laid. I've seen it so many times throughout my college career. Guys get the girl drunk, bring her back home, play Dave, and the girl falls into his lap. Dave obviously doesn't seem to mind that his cheesy sound attracts these listeners b/c they are the ones eating up the tickets.

ok i wasn't trying to be mean. i love duran duran. however a riot at a duran duran concert... you guys have got to see the irony in that...

and so goes my correlation to dmb - i mean it's expected at a jay-z concert but it's like saying john tesh fans like to have blood spurted on them while he's rockin on a mean piano solo.

haha! WTF?! How can people riot at a Dave Matthews concert? His music is pleasant enough, I guess, but the appeal of Dave Matthews has always eluded me.

Yeh, his fans remind me of all the gross people from college.

Dave Matthews Band driver denies drenching
      Tue Aug 10 2004 10:55:31 ET

The bus driver for rock star Dave Matthews called from the road Monday to say his luxury coach was not the one responsible for dousing passengers on a Chicago River tour boat with foul-smelling muck over the weekend.

CHICAGO TRIBUNE reports: Witnesses on the architectural sightseeing cruise told police they saw a long black tour bus dump liquid waste Sunday afternoon as their boat crossed under the Kinzie Street bridge.

About two-thirds of the passengers seated on the upper deck of Chicago's Little Lady were soaked with the "brownish-yellow" substance.

One witness gave Chicago police an Oregon license plate number that belongs to the 2003 Monaco Royale Coach driven by Jerry Fitzpatrick, who has been Matthews' tour bus driver for three years.

Fitzpatrick confirmed he was in Chicago with Matthews, whose band played the second of two shows at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin later that night. But the driver said he was parked in front of the Peninsula Hotel, 108 E. Superior St., when the waste rained down from the bridge several blocks away.

"There is no way I could be responsible for that," Fitzpatrick said from downstate Effingham. "I haven't emptied the tank for days. Besides, we are very cautious about how we do that sort of thing."

To bolster his case, Fitzpatrick coaxed Sgt. Paul Gardner of the Effingham Police Department to inspect the bus. He then gave Gardner his cell phone to tell a reporter that the tank was nearly full.

"One of the strangest requests I've ever had, that's for sure," Gardner said.

A publicist for the Dave Matthews Band issued a statement Monday night saying the group's management had "determined that all of the buses on our tour were parked at the time of this incident."
